Summary

The article examines the problem of conflict prevention among prisoners as one of the key conditions for maintaining an appropriate level of security and manageability in correctional institutions. The relevance of the topic is driven by the increasing complexity of interpersonal relations in places of detention, the prevalence of conflict-generating factors, and the need to improve preventive practices of institutional staff. The purpose of the study is to comprehensively define the content and main directions of conflict prevention among prisoners and to substantiate effective practical approaches to their early prevention and constructive settlement. The methodological framework is based on general scientific and special research methods, including analysis and generalization of theoretical provisions, comparison, systematization, and a structural-functional approach to assessing preventive activities in correctional facilities. The study identifies the main objective and subjective factors that contribute to conflict development in the penitentiary environment, characterizes the most vulnerable periods of sentence serving, and clarifies the role of staff in the early detection of pre-conflict situations. The expediency of a multi-level prevention model combining regime, organizational, socio-psychological, pedagogical, and individual corrective measures is substantiated. The practical value of the article lies in the possibility of applying the proposed approaches in the work of correctional personnel to reduce conflict levels, improve the moral and psychological climate, and increase the effectiveness of prisoner resocialization. It is concluded that systematic, scientifically grounded, and interdisciplinary conflict prevention is a necessary condition for the stable functioning of correctional institutions and for the development of constructive behavioral patterns among prisoners.

Key words: conflict prevention, prisoners, penitentiary environment, conflict factors, social and psychological work, correctional institutions, resocialization.
