Summary

The article explores the significance of the humanistic orientation of a probation officer’s personality in the context of their professional activity. The relevance of the topic is determined by contemporary challenges in the probation field, which require the creation of an effective socio-legal environment aimed at supporting the processes of rehabilitation and reintegration of offenders. The authors emphasize the necessity of integrating humanistic values into the professional culture of probation officers, which not only enhances the effectiveness of their service but also fosters the establishment of trusting relationships with clients under supervision.

The research employed methods of observation and analysis of probation officers’ professional activities, allowing for the identification of key personal qualities that positively influence work performance. These qualities include a high level of empathy, tolerance, reflexivity, well-developed communication skills, and the ability to engage in constructive interpersonal interaction. It is established that the presence of these humanistic traits in probation officers contributes to the successful rehabilitation of clients, reduces the risk of recidivism, and promotes positive behavioral changes.

The practical value of the study lies in the formulation of recommendations for improving the professional training of future probation officers. In particular, it is proposed to strengthen the humanistic component within their educational system by implementing personal development training, psychological support programs, and practice-oriented learning formats that contribute to the formation of the necessary level of professional competence.

The development of a humanistic orientation in probation officers is not merely a desirable trait, but a professional necessity that significantly enhances the effectiveness and legitimacy of the probation institution within the criminal justice system.

Key words: humanistic orientation, probation, professional activity, empathy, tolerance, respect for the dignity of offenders.
