“METHODOLOGY OF TEACHING FOREIGN LITERATURE IN HIGHER EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS”: PRACTICAL ASPECTS OF TEACHING THE EDUCATIONAL COMPONENT

The author of this article describes the practical aspects of teaching the educational component “Methodology of Teaching Foreign Literature in higher educational institutions” for future teachers of foreign literature in the process of their professional training in higher education institutions. The place of this academic discipline in the professional training of future teachers of foreign literature is determined. It is emphasized that “Methodology of Teaching Foreign Literature in higher educational institutions” is a mandatory educational component of the professional training cycle of the Secondary Education (English Language and Foreign Literature). Its feature is its practical nature, which is due to the close relationship of this academic discipline with production (pedagogical) practice in higher education institutions. It is stated that practical and laboratory classes are of particular importance in the process of teaching this educational component, which allow analyzing theoretical provisions and forming skills and abilities for their application in the process of solving practical tasks. Examples of tasks that future teachers of foreign literature should perform in the context of practical classes are given, which in particular involve the preparation by undergraduates of fragments of lectures, plans of practical classes, tasks for independent and research work, etc.
The importance of independent work of applicants is emphasized and examples of tasks for extracurricular work of undergraduates are given. A list of online courses on modern Ukrainian educational platforms is given, the results of mastering which can be credited within the framework of non-formal education. The features of conducting current and final control in the academic discipline in conditions of blended learning are characterized.
It has been proven that the effectiveness of mastering this educational component is directly related to the teacher’s skill, his willingness to analyze and correct educational materials prepared by master’s students, the ability to create a friendly and creative atmosphere in practical and laboratory classes and encourage them to professional development.
