Summary

The article is devoted to the topical issue of social work in the context of war – combating gender-based violence (GBV).

The purpose of the article is to clarify the definition of GBV, its features during the war in Ukraine, and to provide services to counteract it – prevention and case management.

The research methods are: theoretical analysis of sources, synthesis, generalisation, observation.

The scientific novelty of the study is that the authors describe the essence of GBV, its features, peculiarities in war, consequences for victims, in particular for women, girls, boys, and summarise all measures to combat it in the world and in Ukraine.

The practical significance of the article is to demonstrate the possibilities of applying international standards in Ukraine, methods of work and provision of services to victims of GBV in war.

Prospects for further research are to identify the specifics of combating GBV against children and men.

Key words: gender discrimination, gender-based violence, comprehensive assistance to victims of gender-based violence in war, combating gender-based violence, forms of gender-based violence.
