THE PROBLEM OF EDUCATION IN THE PREACHING DISCOURSE OF UKRAINIAN BAROQUE

In clause the sight of the Ukrainian preacher of XVII century, Antoniy Radivilovskiy on education is considered, from the point of view of its utility or harm for the common or personal blessing, and as rescue souls of the Christian.
The author analyzes the general ideological changes in the consciousness of baroque church thinkers and their relationship to previous views on education. The view of the Ukrainian preacher of the XVII century named Anthony Radyvylovsky on education and accomplishment in terms of its usefulness or harmfulness to the public and private good, and Christian salvation is considered. The comparative analysis of Radyvylovsky views with the outlooks of the other religious thinkers of the XVII сentury is conducted.
The author comes to the conclusion that education is recognized by Anthony Radyvylovsky and by the other Ukrainian church thinkers of the XVII century as useful to humans or just on the contrary as harmful to salvation and others, depending on its use for good or evil things. All mentioned above is consistent with the generally accepted at the time of humanistic program of «enlightened piety», according to which – the main requirement was the «good Christian» education with a set of moral virtues. Next to the elevation of wisdom and understanding to the rank of virtue there are appealings to traditional Christian «pious simplicity», that witnesses the eclecticism of Ukrainian intellectuals outlook where quite diametrically opposed views on education and accomplishment coexisted. Anthony Radyvylovsky and his contemporaries perceive a new European civilizational approach to education that maintains its positive content and a high role in public life. It is judged that education admits as the Ukrainian thinker useful to the person or on a revolution harmful depending on its use for good or malicious has put.
