Summary

The article provides a theoretical analysis of the role of informal education in the provision of social services as a tool for preventing and combating gender-based violence (GBV) in conditions of martial law. It shows that combating violence in families is part of protecting human rights, promoting gender equality and democratic values in society.

The authors emphasise the importance of the family as a basic institution for socialisation and the formation of behaviour patterns that determine the future of generations. The study uses methods of theoretical analysis, generalisation of practical experience of social services, synthesis, modelling and observation.

Particular attention is paid to defining the concept of informal education in accordance with Ukrainian legislation, its functions in shaping gender competence and developing the professional skills of social workers. International and national educational programmes aimed at raising awareness of gender-based violence, changing social norms, developing competencies and supporting victims are considered. It has been proven that informal education is a flexible and effective tool for prevention and rehabilitation, which provides the knowledge, skills and values necessary to effectively counteract violence. The authors emphasise the need to adapt international experience to Ukrainian realities, develop national standards and procedures, and recognise the importance of state recognition and certification of non-formal education programmes in the field of social assistance.

Key words: informal education, social services, gender-based violence (GBV), counteracting and preventing violence, gender competence, martial law, international educational programmes, socialisation and family development.
