The purpose of the article is to develop methods for forming cross-cultural competence of future specialists of the SСES during the study of the course “Fundamentals of Chaplaincy”.
The research methodology is based on the activity-based approach, which involves the maximum use of the acquired knowledge in the practical activities of future specialists of the penitentiary system. We also used a synergistic approach, which allowed us to consider the process of resocialisation as a non-linear interaction of all participants in this process, which requires appropriate professional training of future SСES professionals. The axiological approach implies the ability to form stable value orientations in future penitentiaries that will contribute to their professional activity.
Scientific novelty. The article analyses the theoretical and axiological foundations of teaching the course “Fundamentals of Chaplaincy” in the penitentiary system, which has not been previously covered in the scientific literature.
Practical significance and value (originality). It consists of providing specific examples of the use of practical exercises to form the cross-cultural competence of future specialists of the State Criminal Executive Service.
Key words: cross-cultural competence, State Criminal Executive Service, chaplaincy, axiological approach, training.
